Why do we need to have good relationships? Why should we care about building healthy relationships?
Because people are people and they have feelings. And our emotions can affect us in many ways. That's why we have feelings and that's why we want others around us to feel good too. We want them to smile at us, to feel happy when talking to us, to laugh with us...
And we don't just want them to appear happy from the outside, but really feel it inside. Because that makes us feel better. Our friends deserve love and affection, they deserve to know how much we appreciate them.
But why do we have to wait until we have someone special to share these moments with? Why not start right now?
Today I'm going to give you some tips on how to make new good friendships, improve your current ones and get rid of toxic relationships.

Always communicate your feelings. Be honest about them, even if they're difficult ones. If a friend asks you how's everything going? Tell him/her honestly. Even if you are having trouble dealing with certain aspects of your family life, don't keep it secret from anyone. You need to share what's bothering you, otherwise, you'll never really get better. In this way, you can begin to feel comfortable enough to open up about other things that may be causing stress or anxiety, like finances or health.
Focus on positive things. There's no point in constantly focusing on negatives, especially when they're not changing. Instead, focus on what's working well in your life, such as good friends, solid relationships, and great work. We often hear people say something along the lines of, "I'm having a hard time right now." That means nothing: they could be having a hard time at their job, but they still have their parents, their friends, and a roof over their head. They know where to count those blessings in times of difficulty. Don't lose sight of that fact.
Spend quality time together. You've got to spend some real-time with each other to really create a bond. Whether it's a dinner out, a day trip, or spending some time alone together, if you're stuck in your own world too much, you won't really understand what's going on in yours. Give yourself permission to take time away from your busy schedule to enjoy each other.
Know when to ask for help. Sometimes we just have to admit we need some extra assistance - whether it's with money, time, or emotional support. Don't pretend you don't need help; instead, look for ways you can get it, and then do it!
Take a deep breath. There will always be moments during life when you find yourself getting overwhelmed by emotions. You can either stay stuck in that feeling, or you can use it as fuel to push forward. Remember that sometimes the best thing you can do is take a step back and let yourself calm down. This doesn't mean you should avoid being around people or avoiding stressful situations entirely: that would only cause more problems. What it does mean is that you should let yourself breathe and try to relax before you react.
